The PR Office was tasked with engaging relevant stakeholders for an event discussing a HMRC consultation – Reforms to the Taxation of Non-domiciles. The reforms are of serious concern to non-doms and HBFS, which offers a range of products for individual investors, wanted to discuss the proposed changes with advisers of non-doms and highlight its expertise and, importantly, the role HBFS can play in helping their clients to navigate the reforms.

The PR Office recommended that the best way for HBFS to engage its target audience was through holding a seminar. This would give HBFS the opportunity to talk to stakeholders directly whilst also demonstrating its knowledge and inviting further discussion. The PR Office advised on the format for the event, the invitee list as well as assisting in drafting content for the seminar including; the invite, presentation and post-event follow-up material to be sent to both those that attended and those that were unable to.

Through targeted research, its knowledge of the professional services sector and its own contacts, The PR Office aimed to build an extensive invitee list of stakeholders in the accountancy and legal professions. To secure strong turnout The PR Office created an invite which clearly outlined the importance of advisers understanding the issues their clients may face. Over several weeks The PR Office contacted invitees to secure attendance and then again post-event to gather detailed feedback. Whilst at the event, The PR Office also facilitated conversations between attendees and the HBFS team to ensure that lasting relationships were being formed.

The high turnout of reputable accountancy and legal professionals at the seminar with facilitated speaker slots not only allowed HBFS to demonstrate its expertise on an important legislative development but also gave them the chance to start building relationships with advisers they may otherwise not have been able to reach. The event also received very positive feedback from all attendees.

“Many thanks for the seminar. It was very well presented and good in terms of tax planning. If there are any queries on non-dom changes which are relevant to our non-dom clients, we will not hesitate to seek your firm’s advice.”
